Mexico Tenejapa

Description

This SHG EP quality coffee comes from the town of Tenejapa. Tenejapa is one of the 119 Municipalities of Chiapas, in southern Mexico. The Tenejapa farmer’s group has 12 members and is led by Juan Lopez Meza. The farmer’s group is a part of a non profit organization called Ichthus. Ichthus’ focus is running a low tuition boarding school where its goal is to make leaders in Mexico. The graduation rate of Ichthus is over 90 % whereas Mexico’s average is 45%. Tenejapa is an isolated town where it consists of indigenous people. Spanish is their second language. They speak their own language and have different customs.
